David V. Crocker, 82, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 8, 2024. He was the loving husband of Deborah (Vincent) Crocker.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harry and Irene (Vallez) Crocker.
A graduate of East Providence High School and Johnson and Wales University, he served with distinction as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps stationed a Camp Lejeune and Guantanamo Bay. After leaving the service, David worked for Dial Media and the Bo Bernstein Advertising agency where he helped create direct-response advertising campaigns for many products and services including the Ginsu knife. Later, David formed a partnership with Ed Miccolis to create Marketing Media Services Inc. where they pioneered the development and deployment of direct-response advertising for national and international clients.
During his leisure time, David loved to travel with family and friends and explore exotic locations in the Caribbean, St Maarten and the Bahamas as well as many international stops. David was also an avid sports fan who, from time to time, enjoyed placing a wager on the outcome of some contests, particularly his favorite New England Patriots. Golfing was another passion. He was a proud and loyal member of Valley Country Club for over 40 years. When the club faced challenges, he played a pivotal role, as part of a core group of investors, that came together to help preseve its future. One of his greatest joys was being part of the Crazy 8’s golf group that traveled far and wide to pursue golfing adventures.
David got great satisfaction from sharing his time and resources. While he never sought recognition, he gave generously to numerous charitable and community organizations, including serving on the Board of the Sargent Rehabilitation Center.
David was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and brother. His family meant the world to him. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Corrie Poland, Matthew Crocker, Jill Lifrak and her husband Dr. Joseph Lifrak, and Andrew Crocker, his grandchildren, Tyler Poland, Alyssa Poland, Joseph Lifrak, Jacob Lifrak, Jackson Lifrak and the late Michael Poland, his sisters Joanie Moser (John) and Judy Walsh (Tom), brother and sister-in-law Robert and Grace Vincent (Winnie) and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Harry Crocker.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Peter’s By The Sea Church, 72 Central Street, Narragansett, RI, with military honors to follow after the service. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, RI. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI.
