David S. Ackroyd, 51, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 26th. Born on August 23, 1974, in Limestone, Maine, he was the son of the late Tem (Sookpa) Ackroyd. He was the loving father to his son, Mason, to whom he devoted his life.

Dave was a remarkably well-known craftsman and master stonemason. His work was true art and a reflection of his character: strong, dedicated, and enduring. He was highly gifted and passionate about his trade, taking great pride in a profession that truly defined him. His unique zeal for his work was so profound that he named his son "Mason" as a testament to the craft he cherished. Aside from his trade, Dave was a deeply devoted father whose life was enriched immensely by the bond he shared with his son. Fatherhood was the highlight of Dave's life; much like his stonework, he strived to build a steadfast foundation for Mason with unwavering love, patience, and unconditional acceptance.

In addition to his son, Mason, Dave leaves behind his family in Thailand, including many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his very dear friend and the mother of his son, Maritza "Ritz," as well as her partner, parents, siblings, and niece and nephews, all of whom loved him as family. Dave is also survived by many lifelong friends who considered him family and described him as a hard worker who was extremely entertaining and fun-loving.

In his free time, Dave enjoyed taking long hikes with his son, entertaining friends, following MMA, soccer, and boxing, and playing poker. He was known for being funny, kind, and generous, and he will always be remembered for his laugh and upbeat attitude.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 6th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust for his son, Mason Ackroyd.
