Daniel C. Watson, 75, of Narragansett, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday February 21, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Meredith (Davis) Watson of 54 years. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Phillip and Gladys (Raitano) Watson. Mr. Watson was a Police Officer for the Town of South Kingstown for 22 years, retiring in 1991. He was an active member and past Exalted Ruler of the Fraternal Order of Elks, South Kingstown Lodge. He served as State President and State Director for the Elks National Hoop Shoot Tournament for many years. The Elks renamed the tournament trophy in his honor, for his service and dedication. He was also a member of the North Kingstown Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 33 and the American Legion. He was a NASCAR Fan and enjoyed bird watching. He will be remembered for being a dedicated family man, and enjoying his time with his grandchildren, Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters Brenda Curzake of Wakefield, Susan St. Lawrence and her husband Kevin of Richmond, and Kerri Grundy and her husband Sean of Richmond; five grandchildren, Jason Curzake, Daniel Curzake, Payton St. Lawrence, Emily St. Lawrence, and Amanda Grundy; and a sister Penny Cronin of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Roberts. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Friday at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St.. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
