Daniel W. Cronin, 56, of Richmond, lost a courageous battle on Saturday in Boston, following a long illness. Born in Providence, he was a beloved son of John W. and Florence (LeBlanc) Cronin of Westerly. He was a graduate of Tollgate High School, Class of 1974. Mr. Cronin has been employed at the University of Rhode Island for the past 21 years. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and did many charity rides for the Special Olympics. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Barbara Martinelli of North Scituate, John P. Cronin of South Kingstown, and Ann Cronin of South Kingstown; a niece, Jessica Lynn Martinelli; and two nephews, Frank J. Martinelli and Jason D. Bartone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday 4-7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
