Obituary

Corine M. Sekator, 94 of West Kingston, RI passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2026 at South County Hospital. Corine was a royal member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe. She was the wife of the late Mervin Sekator. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late James W. And Carrie F. (Reels) Fayerweather and was a Life-Long Resident of South Kingstown.

Over the years, Corine built a life centered on family, faith, service, and community. She was known for her deep love of the outdoors and took great joy in tending her plants and flowers. Corine also enjoyed working on puzzles and spending time watching classic movies.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Sekator) Higgs, Tonia (Sekator) Corbett, Cindy (Sekator) Mosby, her sons, Emanuel Sekator and Keith Pennywell, sons-in-law

John Higgs and Robert Corbett Sr. Grandson James and Wife Stacia Sekator, and a granddaughter Kristin Higgs, two great grandsons, James and Benjamin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours for Corine will be held on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026 from 4 to 7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18th at 12 PM in the Curtis Corner Baptist Church, 591 Curtis Corner Rd. Wakefield. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.

Following the Graveside Service, a Reception will be held at Camden's Restaurant in Wakefield, RI at 3:00PM.

We deeply appreciate your expressions of sympathy and many acts of kindness. Your love, prayers, and support outpouring have brought great comfort to our family during this difficult time. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at South County Hospital for their compassionate care.
