Constantine "Custy" Kulig went to join his Eternal Father on October 10, 2013. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Gertrude "Trudy" Kulig, his daughters, Mary Kulig and Virginia Saltzman, his sons,Stephen Kulig and his wife Carol, Gerald Kulig and his wife Lois, and Christopher Kulig and his wife Mary, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Caroline Kulig. Custy was born on October 20, 1922 in Central Falls, R.I. He grew up and was educated in Central Falls before attending and graduating from Brown University, Class of 1945. He served in the United States Maritime Service (Merchant Marine) during World War II in the Atlantic, European and Mediterranean Theatres. After the war he worked for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), the forerunner to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He then moved to Hartford, CT and took a job with the Hartford Empire Company, which later became Emhart Corporation. During his years of employment as a mechanical engineer he was the inventor or co-inventor on twenty five patents. He lived in Wethersfield, CT. and later in Windsor, CT. with his family until his retirement in 1987. He then moved to Narragansett, R.I., later spending his winters in Boynton Beach, FL. He loved spending time with his family. Hard working, generous, down to earth, kind and loyal are but a few of the qualities that best describe Custy, who will be missed by his family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett, RI. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. Visiting hours Monday 4-7 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, R.I. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Thomas More Church.
