Clinton R. Holland, Sr.

June 6, 1917 — August 11, 2013

Clinton R. Holland, Sr., 96, formerly of West Kingston, died Sunday August 11th. He was the beloved husband of the late Esther J. (Montecalvo) Holland, and they had been married for 58 years. He was born in South Kingstown and was the son of the late Raymond and Susan Holland, formerly of Wakefield. Mr. Holland was employed at URI for over 26 years, retiring in 1979. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the BPOE Lodge in South Kingstown, a former South Kingstown Police Officer under Joseph Congdon, was a lifetime member of the Peace Dale Fire Department, now the Union Fire District. He served his country honorably in the US Army, during World War II and the Korean Conflict. A lifelong resident of South Kingstown, he wintered in Florida for many years, moving there permanently in 1993. He is survived by four children, Joyce Mastriani of Casselberry, Florida, Linda Marcello of Leesburg, Florida, Clinton Holland, Jr. of Buffalo, New York, and Stephen Holland of Winter Park, Florida; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Sunday 6-8 p.m. A Committal service with military honors will be 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
