Clifford W. Falby

January 3, 1929 — October 9, 2015

Clifford W. Falby, 86, of Bright View Commons, Wakefield, R.I. died on October 9, 2015, at South County Hospital. He was the husband of Carolyn (Billings) Falby for 62 years. Born in Clinton, Mass., he grew up in Berlin, Mass., son of the late Verne and Blanche (Wheeler) Falby. Following service in the Navy in WWII and graduation from the University of Massachusetts, Mr. Falby received a graduate degree from the University of Chicago School of Social Work Administration in 1954. He began his social work career at the Lake Bluff Children’s Home in Illinois and, beginning in 1960, served at The New England Home for Little Wanderers in Boston, Mass., from which he retired as Executive Director in 1989. As a Sharon, Mass. resident, he was an active member of the First Congregational Church and served 6 years on the Sharon School Committee. Moving to Exeter, Rhode Island in retirement, Mr. Falby was a member of the Kingston Congregational Church serving as a trustee and—as always—a faithful choir tenor, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Seniors Helping Others and South Providence Neighborhood Ministries. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: Vern Falby and his partner Zorina Galis of Bethesda, Md.; Bruce Falby and his wife Nancy Isikoff of Needham, Mass.; and Wayne Falby of Brockton, Mass.; and seven grandchildren: Ben, Jack, Mac, Cam, Jake, Dan and Anna Falby. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14 at the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Rd., Kingston, R.I. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kingston Congregational Church or Meals on Wheels of R.I..
