Clara N. Jones

Clara “Betty” N. Jones, 82, of Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, Charlestown, died Thursday January 29th, 2009. She was the wife of the late Edwin E. Jones. Born in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Holmes) Newman. Mrs. Jones was a longtime resident of Charlestown, where she and her husband ran the Post Road Laundromat. She was the secretary for the Sociology and Anthropology Departments at the University of Rhode Island, retiring in 1985. She is survived by three children, Roy I. Jones, Raymond E. Jones and Barbara Fitzgerald, all of Charlestown, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield.
