Charles Dudley Nash Jr., 94, passed away passed peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021 at home with his wife and son Eric by his side. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Charles D. Nash Sr and Maud (Todd) Nash who immigrated from Jamaica and met and married in New York City. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Agar) Nash for 72 years. The two met while he was completing his undergraduate engineering degree at Yale and she was enrolled in the Yale Master’s Nursing Program. Charles served honorably in the United States Armed forces during World War II and was stationed in Korea. He worked for several years at the Wright- Patterson Air Force base, contributing to the development of an aircraft. He later taught Mechanical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island for 30 years and was chairman of the department for several years. He especially enjoyed working with the Honors Colloquium; inviting Rene Dubois and Buckminster Fuller to participate. He and his wife volunteered at the Trustom National Wildlife Refuge and Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge, sharing their love of nature as they provided nature walks, field trips, wildlife tracking, and other services for a combined total of 30,000 hours. Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Jonathan Nash, daughter, Susan Nash and her husband Michael Bergquist, son, Eric Nash, and son in law, David Dougher; and three grandchildren, William Wahby, Finnegan Torrey, and Julian Torrey. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Nash. A graveside service with Military Honors will take place Saturday, September 25th, 2021 in New Fernwood Cemetery, West Kingston at 1 PM.
