Charles F. Moffitt, 82, of South Kingstown died at home peacefully on November 12, 2019 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Charles received his Bachelors Degree in Education from Rhode Island College and Masters Degrees in both Education in Mathematics and Guidance from the University of Rhode Island. Charles retired from the Chariho Regional School District after 27 years as a Math teacher and Guidance Counselor at the Vocational Technical Center. Charles was a passionate member of the Southern RI community. He served on the South Kingstown School Committee from 1973-1981, the Town Council from 1987 - 1994 and the Board of Canvassers. He was an active member of the Saint Francis Parish serving as a reader for many years. Charles celebrated life, enjoying hiking and skiing at the River House in Bartlett, NH, golfing and playing racket-ball and traveling extensively with friends and family. Charles is survived by his wife of 56 years MaryEllen and their three children. Charles Moffitt Jr and his wife Colleen of Wakefield, daughter Catherine Moffitt of Wakefield and daughter Erin Moffitt of North Conway, NH. He also leaves 4 grandchildren Courtney and Christian Moffitt and Derek and Evan Dascoulias. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 128 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private.
