Charles Bill Evans

Charles “Bill” Evans, 77, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. He was the loving husband of Mary (Martella) Evans. Born in South Kingstown, son of the late Charles W. “Doc” Evans, Sr. and Mary C. (Follett) Evans. Bill was a part owner of the former Evans Market in Kingston and a service sales representative for Kraft Food before retiring. Bill was a former Deputy Chief of the Kingston Fire Department. He was on the Board of Wardens for Union Fire District, and an honorary member of the South Kingstown Forest Fire. He was also a ticket collector for the Ryan Center, a greeter for the URI sports teams, loved being a crossing guard for the Broad Rock Middle School, and was parking coordinator at Theatre-By-the-Sea for many years. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Craig and Todd Evans both of South Kingstown; granddaughters Lauren Evans of Foster and Aili Ann Harvey of North Stonington, CT; brother Dale Evans of West Kingston and the late Richard L. Evans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 10:00am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, South Kingstown. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3-6pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, South Team, 143 Main Street, Wakefield, RI, 02879.
