Charles F. Doyle,69, of Wakefield, passed away on January 2, 2018 at South County Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Janet A. (Bishop) Doyle for 48 years. Born in Providence, Charles was the son of the late J. Frank Doyle and Helen (Winn) Doyle. He was the brother of the late J. Joseph Doyle and Joan Doyle. Charles spent his entire life in Wakefield and the surrounding Salt Pond area. He graduated the University of Rhode Island in 1970 majoring in meteorology and geology while being an active member of the Sigma Pi fraternity. After graduating Charles served in the US Army in the 3rd Armored Division. Charles worked as a commercial fisherman for over thirty years while developing his metal sculpting craft. He was an avid reader, enjoyed sailing his schooner, and was both a movie buff and self -proclaimed Jeopardy champion. There wasnt a person that he met that hadnt learned a new fact, piece of trivia or was lent a book to "broaden their horizons". Charles is survived by his daughter, Bevin Doyle-Nolin and her husband Jeff Nolin of Wakefield. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends that will miss him dearly. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, on Sunday from 1-3 pm, followed by a time of remembrance at 3 pm, where people are encouraged to share a story or favorite memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pt. Judith Fishermans Scholarship Fund, PO Box 386, Narragansett, RI 02882. A celebration of life gathering will immediately follow at The Mews Tavern located at 456 Main Street, Wakefield RI.
