Charlie was born in Providence, RI and was the son of the late Edward Baud and Yvonne (VanNieuwenuyze) Baud.
Charlie grew up in Exeter, RI and enjoyed life on a country farm with his parents and brother Ed. He is an army veteran and served time in occupied Japan just after World War 2. Charlie also served on the South Kingstown Planning Board and on the South Kingstown Building Code Board of Appeals.
Charlie always had an appreciation for life, he enjoyed playing softball at Old Mountain Field, golf, tennis and pickleball. However, his favorite sport was snow skiing and most weekends from late November to June he would be skiing at Mt Snow and Killington. He developed numerous friendships from skiing that still exist today. He was especially proud of being able to ski with his children and grandchildren for many years. Finally at the age of 90 years old he decided that he had better retire from skiing, however he continued to play tennis, golf and pickleball until his passing. He also enjoyed music, frequently playing the piano, harmonica, accordion, and guitar. Lately Charlie and Clara have been regulars at the South Kingstown Senior Center, where they have enjoyed the company of many friends and staff. Charlie and Clara recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends.
In addition to his wife Clara, he is survived by his children David and his wife Laurie, Gary and his wife Vicki, Nancy Tourgee and her husband Glenn, two grandchildren Shelby and Corinne, his brother Ed Baud and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
