Charles Anderson

June 8, 1937 — February 18, 2024

Charles A. Anderson, 86, of Wakefield, Rhode Island, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Anderson. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was the son of Alfred and Edith Anderson.

A man of integrity, principles, values, and love. He attended Hall High School in West Hartford, CT, graduating in 1955. He met his love and future wife there. Upon graduation from High School, he attended Upsala College in New Jersey, obtaining a degree in accounting where he graduated in 1959. He enlisted with the United States Air Force Reserve, served his country, and cherished his high school sweetheart, Barbara, whom he married on April 30, 1960. The family began to grow with 3 sons, turning into daughter in-laws, and 3 grandchildren over the years. He was so proud of their accomplishments in life to date. Having a successful career himself as an accountant for Monsanto Chemical, Arthur Andersen Consulting, and ending with a 20+ year career at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT, where he was the head of Information Technology Audit. He retired in April of 1993.

Throughout his career and retirement years, he was always involved with organizations such as, Little League baseball, Church councils, EDP Audit, Green Hill Beach Association, and the Preserve Condo Association to name a few. He loved being part of team to share ideas, visions, opinions, brainstorms, and more opinions. He was always open to provide advice for anyone asking. It was free.

His hobbies included gardening, maintaining houses in West Simsbury, CT. and Green Hill Beach, RI. A true advocate for green grass and zero weeds! Boating in Rhode Island and Block Island waters with his wife, kids, and the many invites to friends. The parties on the dock at slip 16. Touring the world with Mom and finally, watching his kids grow to men, his daughter in-laws maturing to great Moms and his grandkids embarking on their journeys in life.

Dad, we all know you are in a better place, you taught us well over the years, had so many laughs with you and thank you for everything you did for us. You were ACLASSIC (his boat name) and will be missed dearly by ALL.

Besides his wife, Barbara, Charles leaves behind; Doug Anderson (son) of Ohio, Dave Anderson (son) of Rhode Island, Greg Anderson (son) of Connecticut, Amy Anderson (daughter in-law) of Connecticut, Lisa Anderson (daughter in-law) of Ohio.
