Catherine Jean Shay

Catherine J. Shay, 91, of Narragansett passed away on May 4, 2024. Born in Hempstead, New York, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Matilda (Vendetti) Provost. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold J. Shay.

Catherine, or Jean as she liked to be called, was a pure soul spirit embodying love, light, and aloha. She woke up every day choosing happiness and positivity, which she graciously shared with all who knew her. She changed lives as she let her lovelight shine. Jean was a sparkplug of pure energy always active whether it was on the tennis court, golf course, in the gym, at the beach, in the kitchen, bargain hunting, etc.

She was the best mom anyone could ever ask for and a great wife to her husband Harry. She was a soul adventurer always walking her path with dignity, style, and grace. Jean truly was an amazingly special person with a giant caring heart always showing up as the authentic gift that she was…a bright and sparkling conscious loving rock star warrior. She was a truly fun and funny character (a real piece of work) who will be greatly missed by all who knew and love her.

Catherine leaves behind her children Chris Shay and Charles Shay, her sister Barbara Warren, her brothers Byron Provost and John Provost.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 12 pm in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St, Narragansett, RI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am to 11 am in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Wakefield.
