Catherine "Kitty" O'Hara

Catherine "Kitty" O’Hara (Whaley), a beloved member of the South Kingstown community, passed away at home on November 10, 2024. Born on September 17, 1951, to the late Anne Marie (Forbes) and Walter (Babe) Whaley, Kitty was a lifelong resident of South Kingstown, where she dedicated her career to helping others as a dental assistant, a nurse’s aide at South County Hospital for 20 years, and as an in-home care provider until her final days.

Kitty was the loving mother of her sons Sean Patrick and Christopher James, and she held a special place in the hearts of her late in-laws, Josephine and James O’Hara. She was a devoted sister to Jimmy Joe Whaley, Anne Marie Rathbun, and Allyson Boisclair, and she cherished her bond with her late sister, Shelly Jones. She also leaves behind her Aunt and Friend, Ally Lou (Forbes) Ellison.

Her role as “Aunt Kitty” was particularly significant; she became the go-to source of love and support for her entire family, embracing her siblings' children as if they were her own. Kitty was known for her kind-hearted nature and selflessness, always putting others first in both her personal and professional life. Despite her small stature, she had a larger-than-life presence that brought warmth and joy to everyone around her.

Kitty's warmth, smile, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, November 21st at 12 PM in Saint Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Reception will Follow.
