Catherine Joan Mclaughlin

After a long battle with breast cancer, Catherine Joan McLaughlin, 69, passed away on Wednesday, June 30th 2021 surrounded by loved ones at her home in North Kingstown. Catherine was born in Concord California on February 23, 1952 to the late Carl Henry and Arleen Johnson Bolin. Catherine is survived by her children; Emma Ruth McLaughlin, and John Duffy McLaughlin; their father, John H McLaughlin; her granddaughter, Aimee Catherine Anderson; her siblings, Susan Ann Staley and Carl Alan Bolin; and her beloved three year old dog, Ollie. Catherine’s world revolved around her children. To spend more time with them, she became the school librarian of their elementary school. She loved sharing her passion for reading with the students. After moving to Rhode Island in 2000, she began working as a receptionist at the Center for Woman’s Health in South County Hospital. Cathy believed in the importance of seeing a smiling face while walking into the office. Cathy’s hobbies included skiing, boating, cookouts with friends, and adventures with her grand-daughter. Cathy spread positivity and light everywhere she went. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10am in St. Romuald Chapel, 61 Atlantic Ave, South Kingstown. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 4pm-7pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield.
