Carol A. Payne

Carol A. Payne, 77, of Cherry Road, Kingston, passed away on August 2 after a “long goodbye” from a lengthy illness. She was the wife of S. G. Payne, Captain, USCGR (ret.) Carol was a registered dental hygienist graduating from the University of Rhode Island. She practiced her profession in several towns in Rhode Island. During her marriage, the Payne family lived in three states and seven Rhode Island communities. Carol and her husband would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on August 18. Besides her husband, Carol is survived by three children and six grandchildren. They are daughter Elizabeth A. Covino, her daughter Kathryn and husband Ralph of Andover, Mass.; son Stephen M. Payne and his wife Kerri and their twin daughters Erin and Gwen of Barrington; Michael J. Payne, his wife Deborah of Rhode Island and children Sarah, Michael, Jr. and Emily Payne. Born in Providence, Carol was a daughter of the late Chester and Rose Aylesworth. She was a sister of Elizabeth Hammett and Patricia Drohan and brother Terry Aylesworth. She was predeceased by sisters Barbara Henry, Mary Lou Patton, Dorothy Corley and brother Chester Aylesworth, Jr. Carol’s funeral was private and burial was in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
