Carmelita (Scorpio) Motta, 90, of Sebring, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 22, 2019 at Brookdale Nursing Home in South Kingstown, RI. She was the wife of the late Alfred Motta. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Torelli) Scorpio and Henry Scorpio Sr., mother to JoAnn Woods and the late Karen Wiemann and sister to her five brothers, the late Michael, Henry, Alfred, James, and Pasquale. She leaves daughter JoAnn Woods and life partner Samuel Stowell of Kingston, RI as well as her five grandchildren, and eight great grand children; granddaughter Jessica Haberman, her husband Bill, and children Benjamin, Sofia, and Kipper, granddaughter Kirra Floyd, her husband Chris, and children Alice, Emma, and Bella, granddaughter Laura Lopo, and her husband Michael, grandson Andrew Woods, his wife Jackie and children Myles and Mason, and granddaughter Alexandra Wiemann daughter of Karen and Michael Wiemann. Carmelita, known mostly as Connie absolutely loved and adored her family. She was a wonderful homemaker for most of her life, first taking care of her five brothers, then raising two wonderful daughters and then cherishing precious moments with their children. She and her husband loved to travel and go out to eat where she enjoyed her favorite meals of lobster and shrimp. She was an avid churchgoer and would pray the rosary every day. She loved spending time with her family and teaching them the important life values of working hard as well as saving money. She took great pleasure in talking to people and she had a great smile that would light up a room. She will be forever loved and missed. A private, immediate family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, Kingston.
