Carl W. Hoeflich, Jr., 89, of Wakefield, died Tuesday. He was the husband of Gladys (Litwin) Hoeflich. Born in Houston, Texas, he was the son of the late Carl W., Sr. and Dora (Werner) Hoeflich. A veteran of W.W. II he served as an attaché to the US Embassy in London, England and in the Pacific Theater with the Air Sea Rescue. He was released to inactive duty as Lt. Commander. Before retiring to RI he served as Quality Control Manager and Legal Representative for several textile firms, most notably Cone Mills and West Point Pepperell. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Patricia Thayer and Carole Hoeflich, both of Wakefield; a brother, Dr. B.J. Hoeflich of Eugene, OR; a sister, Dora Scott Nichols of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Luke, Sarah, Cindy and Marsha; four great grandchildren, Emily, Cassandra, Zach, and Sam, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 8 AM Saturday from the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Friday 5-7 PM.
