Carl Albert DeSimone Jr., 82 years old, of Saunderstown, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on December 28th 2018 at South County Hospital. Son of the late Carl and Pauline DeSimone, Carl was born November 20, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the oldest of four children. He is predeceased by his younger brother Paul and survived by his two sisters, Louise and Denise. Carl was married to Cecelia (Melone) for 53 years and had three children Nina, Carl III and Joseph. Carl attended St. Sebastians School, received his bachelors from Boston College and Masters from Boston University. He worked tirelessly both as an educator and later as an independent sales representative. He also served proudly as a Lieutenant Commander with the Naval Reserve for 20 years. Carl loved sailing. He spent many summers pushing his 110 to its limits across Lake Alexander or chartering a boat on the ocean with good friends. He enjoyed spending holidays with his family, his sister-in-law Anna and her daughters Cara and Tia. Carl also derived great pleasure from working in his garden and cooking at home. He liked travelling and had a wide ranging appreciation for great music. Carl is survived by his wife Cecelia, his daughter Nina, son-in-law Andrew, his son Carl III, son Joseph, daughter-in-law Elizabeth and grandsons Joseph and William. Carl will also be lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family would like to thank the ER, ICU and Respiratory Therapy Department staff for their care and compassion during Carls hospitalization. Those who knew him will remember his sense of humor and his love of cookies and milk. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday January 5th at 11:00 am in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, RI. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Those who desire may make a memorial donation to a charity of their choice.
