Cameron Sisson Gardner Jr. Son of Cameron Sisson Gardner Sr. and Margaret Macfarlane Gardner. Our Dad passed away peacefully on January 10, 2018. He was born in Pawtucket on January 27, 1934. Moved to The Park House Inn in Matunuck in 1938 and at the age of 4 would ride out the great 38 hurricane. Unbeknown to him this is where he would spend the rest of his life. He was married to our Mother Joyce McCullough Gardner on May 26, 1957 for just more than 60 years. He joined the United States Navy on December 28, 1951. He did two world tours on the USS Tarawa Air Craft Carrier (CVA40). He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict he was honorably discharged on January 14, 1955. Sometime after arriving home he joined the South Kingstown Police Department where he was a patrolman from 1957- 1960 and served with distinction. Before, during and after his days at U.R.I. with his passion for the sea, he devoted the next 10 years Lifeguarding at Misquamicut State Beach, East Matunuck State Beach, and at Green Hill Beach where he would often drive his 1930 Ford Model A along the beach to work. It was during these years that our Dad would develop and foster some of the best life long friendships of any kind. In the course of his days guarding at the beaches our Dad would receive his Degree in Business from The University of Rhode Island. He went on to work for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. as an Insurance Adjuster. He would later work for several different legal organizations as a sub contracted Private Investigator. He was politically active in the Republican Party and served as South Kingstown Town Chairmen for many years. He was proud of his work organizing fundraisers for the campaign to elect the late Senator John Chafee and 66th Governor of Rhode Island. He retired in the mid 1980's where he enjoyed walks on the beach with our mom, traveling to Nova Scotia Canada, and relaxing on his front porch in Matunuck while enjoying a glass of Scotch, cool ocean breezes, and voicing his colorful words of wisdom to anyone who would listen. He is survived by his wife Joyce Elizabeth McCullough Gardner and his sister Ruth Ellen Gardner McNulty, 4 Sons James C. Gardner, Jeffrey S. Gardner, John S. Gardner and his wife Mellissa, Joseph M. Gardner and his wife Sarah and he leaves behind 7 beautiful Grand Children: Jason, Timothy, Samantha, Emily, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Lyman Gardner and 12 nieces and nephews. He was also brother to the late Robert Douglas Gardner, and Margaret Nancy Gardner Carroll A funeral Service will be held at St. Peter's by The Sea, Narragansett, RI on Thursday January 25, at 10:00 a.m.
