C. Niels West

C. Niels West, 77, of Narragansett, died January 4 peacefully at home. Niels was born in Gentofte, Denmark, the son of the late Carl Henrik and Inga West. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Armstrong) West. They recently celebrated their fifty-second Anniversary in Northern Ireland. Niels received his B.S. from Boston University, his M.S. from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and his Ph.D from Rutgers University, New Jersey. He was a faculty member in the Department of Marine Affairs at The University of Rhode Island for many years, retiring to enjoy his love of sailing. Niels is survived by his son, Jan and his wife Erica, his daughter Trine and granddaughter Madison. He is also survived by his sister, Ann, his nieces Stine and Charlotte in Ramlose, Denmark. Visitation will be held on January 8th, from 5 – 7 pm at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St.,Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Home and Hospice of Rhode Island and Rhode Island Special Olympics would be appreciated.
