Bruce C. Dunham

Bruce C. Dunham, 78, of Kingston, RI died suddenly on August 14th 2014, of complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was the devoted husband of Ann (Mitchell) Dunham for fifty four years. Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Norum) Dunham. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the US Navy in the Submarine Service. After leaving the Navy, he earned his Bachelors and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics from Brown University. He enjoyed a long and successful career at the University of Rhode Island, including serving as Business Manager, and was occasionally able to make time for his true passion, teaching. At the time of his death, he was active with the US Submarine Veterans (USSVI), the SLAMS Bridge Club, and St. Augustine’s Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Arthur Dunham of Yountville, CA, their sister Katherine Dunham of Peace Dale, RI, and sons Carl A. Dunham of Narragansett, RI, Eric M. Dunham and his wife, Deborah Dunham, of Westerly, RI, and Bruce M. Dunham of Kingston, RI. He also leaves three grandchildren: Benjamin Dunham, currently serving in the US Navy, Grace Dunham, and Jackson Dunham. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014, at St. Augustine Church, Lower College Rd, Kingston, RI, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Augustine Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611.
