Birdie M. Williams, 92 of South Kingstown, formerly of Narragansett and South Carolina, went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025. She was the wife of the late Samuel J. Williams. Born in Kingstree, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lucinda (McCrary) Scott.
Birdie worked for the State of RI for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1993. She was a faithful member of the Community Church of God. She was a former choir member, a member of the Women’s Group and the Community Guild.
She was the loving mother of Wilbur Lee Williams, Rufus J. Williams, Sammie D. Williams, Patricia Ann Johnson and Deidre C. Spencer; sister of Louis Scott, Naomi Brown, the late Altormeaze Shaw, Charlie Scott, Jack Dempsey Scott, Emmanuel Scott, Dorothy Miller, Rosalie Shepard, Eva Cunningham, Jodell Scott and Othell Evans; grandmother of ten and the late Tyler James Williams; great grandmother of 18 and 8 step great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Monday, May 19th, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. The burial will be in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
