Betty F. Wilk, 93, a longtime Barrington resident, passed away Wednesday October 28th. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph M. Wilk, who recently passed away in September. Born in Warren, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Joyce) Feezel. She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Degree and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After graduation, she worked in New York City for Editor and Publisher magazine, where she was the first woman to work on the staff as a journalist. After four years in New York, she moved back to Cleveland to join the Cleveland Press (one of two major daily newspapers in Cleveland,) writing features (one on Dwight Eisenhower’s first inauguration) and eventually becoming the Society Editor. After relocating to Barrington, she was a writer and a photographer for the Barrington and Warren Times for well over a decade. Betty was an avid tennis player and beachgoer, who also volunteered at Tap In and loved to travel. She is survived by two sons, David Wilk of Marlboro, MA and Peter Wilk and his wife Erin of Annandale, VA; and two granddaughters, Reese Wilk and Casey Wilk. She was the mother of the late Ricky Wilk. A celebration of her life will be held at Crossroads Pub, 133 Market Street, Warren. on Saturday, November 7th at 12pm.In lieu of flowers, memorial doantions may be made to:The Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
