Betty J. Mccabe

June 6, 1933 — November 14, 2023

Betty J McCabe, commonly known as B by all who knew and loved her, 90, of Charlestown, RI, died peacefully at home on November 14, 2023. Sadly, she is predeceased by her daughter, Holly Manchester, of Exeter RI, who died earlier this year, and her husband Tom, died 2009. She is survived by Alison McCabe and her husband Peter Bullen, of California, Paul Manchester, son-in-law, of Exeter, Hugh McCabe and his wife Valerie, of North Carolina, Erica West and her husband Jan, of Wakefield, her grandchildren, Jaclyn Hogan, Paige Blalock, Kyle Manchester, Patrick McCabe, and Madison West, and great grandchildren, Thomas, Raegan, and Finn Hogan, and Harper Blalock, born 6/6/23, sharing Betty’s 90th birthday!

After completing her undergraduate degree in Southern CA, she moved to NYC for a teaching job. Soon after, she met her future husband, Tom, at an Italian American Club dance and was married 6 months later. She had 4 children, was a homemaker while also developing her love of the arts: painting, printmaking, basket weaving and home crafted foods and clothing. Betty and Tom designed and built the home they lived in for decades, enjoying the peacefulness of country life while also entertaining large family gatherings. She later worked at Proactive Physical Therapy, as the face of the front office, doing many essential tasks. Throughout, she was dedicated to the Church of the Ascension in Wakefield and the parishioners there. In later life, she became an avid yogi. She was friendly, generous and kind, making friends wherever she went.
