Barbara J. Sampson

Barbara J. Sampson, 75, of East Greenwich, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Harry Sampson Jr. Born in Harlem, NY, she was the daughter of the late David and Mary (Mitchell) Cook. Mrs. Sampson worked in dining services at the University of Rhode Island for thirty years before retiring. She was the mother of Harry Sampson III, Alan Sampson, Mark Sampson, Karen Sampson, Dreaner Cook all of Wakefield, Cynthia Sampson of East Greenwich, Shartini Kirby of Providence, Sha-Karl Kirby of Providence and Sonnie Kirby of South Kingstown; sister of Shirley Banks of Newport News, VA and the late Mamie Gripper, Dorothy Cook, David Cook Jr, Lorraine Cook, Reginald Cook, Ronald Cook, and Veronica Cook. She leaves twenty two grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and was also predeceased by two great-great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Wakefield.
