Barbara A. Rice

Barbara A. Rice, 93, of West Kingston, died Tuesday, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard G. Rice. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Hallis) Cooke. Mrs. Rice was employed at URI for twenty years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed bowling, working in her flower garden, and she attended the Queens River Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Boisclair of Saunderstown, Millie Standeven of Charlestown, and Barbara J. Holland of West Kingston; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Franklin Cooke of Cranston. She was the mother of the late Howard T. Rice and grandmother of the late Robert Boisclair and Alan Holland. A funeral service will be held Sunday July 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
