Barbara Dyer O’Malley 96, of Narragansett, formally of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at South County Hospital on December 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Heaven now has a new angel. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel (Riley) Dyer. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late William O’Malley.
Barbara retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1995. After her retirement she was a volunteer for many years with the Meals on Wheels program of Rhode Island as well as a volunteer at South County Hospital. She lived a full and vibrant life, full of laughs, stories and never-ending energy. She was an avid reader who could often be found relaxing on her deck with a book in her hand. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy and was always up for the challenge of every category. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her four children, Barbara Olson (Victor) of South Kingstown, Karen Sousa (William) of Narragansett, William O’Malley of Florida and Thomas O’Malley (Gail) of Nevada, grandchildren, Kaitlin Yick (Alan), Meaghan Feeney (James), Liam O’Malley, John O’Malley, Brandon Gucfa (Jacque) and Michael Gucfa (Aily). She was also the loving and proud GiGi to her five great grandchildren, Colin, Caroline & Ethan Yick, and Emma and James Feeney. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley Dyer as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Satula,Virginia Houle, and Marion Poniatowski and her brothers Thomas and Peter Dyer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 13th at 11:00 at St Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Rd in Narragansett, RI. Burial will be private. Flowers respectfully omitted.
