Barbara Drury Mercer

Barbara Drury Mercer, age 89 of Greenville, RI passed away with her family at her side on June 14, 2022 at the Village at Waterman Lake. She was the beloved wife of George C. Mercer Jr. (deceased 2010) for 57 years. Barbara was born in Orange, NJ, the daughter of Edwin I. Drury and Alice G. (Eddy) Drury. She received post-high school training at Penn Hall School for Girls, Traphagen School of Interior Design, the University of Vermont and Barrington (RI) College. She worked 20 years for RI Hospital as a Cytotechnologist. She resided 25 years in Barrington, RI and 20 years in West End, NC. Barbara was a Master Gardener and past president of Hamecho garden club. She loved golf, travel and many friends – most of whom have preceded her. Barbara leaves behind her son Richard (Patti) of Chattanooga, TN and daughter Sara (Peter) Worthington of Charlestown, RI. She was preceded in death by her son David (Laura) Mercer of Rehoboth, MA and her husband George C. Mercer Jr. She had 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
