Barbara Mclaughlin

Barbara deSales (Duffy) "Duff" McLaughlin, 87, of Matunuck peacefully passed away at home on April 22, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Thomas F. McLaughlin and daughter of the late Hugh Duffy and Ruth B Dolan-Duffy. Barbara spent her early years in Fairlawn (Pawtucket) and summers on Prudence Island. She was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and URI with a BA in History. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Mt. Pleasant and St. Romuald Chapel in Matunuck. She was an active member and Past President of the St. Aloysius Guild, an avid reader, competitive bridge player and accomplished knitter. She was the loving mother of, Bobbie Fay, Susan Carlson, Kate ONeil (Michael), Thomas F McLaughlin Jr. (Denise), Maggie LaChance (Matt), John McLaughlin, Ann Ciminero, Peter McLaughlin (Jill), Paul McLaughlin and the late Lisa McLaughlin; grandmother of 13 and great grandmother of 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St Romuald Chapel in Matunuck. Calling hours Friday 4 7 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Donations in her memory may be made to Home and Hospice of RI or South County Hospital.
