Barbara H. Donovan

Barbara Hue Donovan, 84, of Narragansett, passed away on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009. She was the wife of 57years to Dr. Gerald A. Donovan, who predeceased her in 2006. Mrs. Donovan was an active member of her community. She is a past president of the North Kingstown Garden Club, she served on various church committees both at Peace Dale Congregational Church and the Essex Junction Congregational Church in Vermont. Born in Springfield, MA and grew up in Manchester, CT, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Gordon) Hue. Mrs. Donovan worked in the school systems in Essex, VT and Narragansett, RI and also worked at Caswell Real Estate in RI. She was a loving mother and the ultimate party giver. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Brown of Boise, ID; Clayton Donovan of North Kingstown and Bruce Donovan of Prescott Valley, AZ; eight grandchildren, Peter Abare of Milton, VT, Sarah Howe of Williston, VT, Kathryn Enholm of Reno, NV, Rachel Donovan of Boston, MA, Claire Donovan of NJ, Ryan and Tess Donovan of Prescott Valley, AZ and Sean Donovan of North Kingstown; four great grandchildren and six step grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM in the Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia St., Peace Dale. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the activities fund at Oak Hill Nursing & Rehab or Capitol Ridge of Providence.
