Audrey C. “Kay” Olson, (RING), 71, of Wakefield, died Wednesday. She was the wife of David G. Olson. Born in Columbia Station, OH, on December 9, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Albin and Mary Ring. She also leaves daughters, Marcia Lynn Scholl, Heather (Yost) Algiere and her husband Patrick; son, Kenneth J. Yost III and his wife Susan; brothers, Thomas Ring and Ralph Ring; grandchildren, Tallia Anne Algiere, Mathias and Wade Yost. Mrs. Olson was a graduate of University of Miami of Ohio and later elected to enter the field of nursing, first earning an AA degree from Purdue University followed by a BS from the University of RI and a Masters degree from Boston College. She received a CCRN certificate and worked at South County Hospital, taught at the Newport Hospital School of Nursing and was on the staff providing nursing professional development programs at Miriam Hospital in Providence before retiring from nursing. She pursued interests in photography and web-site design after her nursing career and merged these interests with her love of dogs to develop web services for several dog and hunting related businesses. Dogs owned by her and her husband have participated and titled in hunt tests over the last several years. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
