Arthur James Sherry

September 30, 1919 — February 21, 2013

Arthur James Sherry, 93, of South Kingstown and formerly of Warwick, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Jane (McGuirk) Sherry and the late Eleanor E. (Beauvais) Sherry. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Owen and Annie (Mohan) Sherry. Mr. Sherry was W.W. II Veteran serving as a Staff Sargent with the Air Force Flying Tigers. He worked in the maintenance department of the Warwick School Department until 1992. He served as past commander of the Yankee Division Post 26 American Legion. He was a former member of the Warwick Planning Board and a former teacher for the Pawtucket Public Schools. He leaves a son, Kevin E. Sherry and his wife Dorothy; grandfather of Timothy Sherry and his wife Jessica and Tyler Sherry; great grandfather of Kendra and Brayden Sherry. He was brother of the late Owen and Francis Sherry. A Prayer service will be offered Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
