Arnold James Adams

Arnold James Adams, 71, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2014 after a long struggle with illness. Born in Hartford, CT, on November 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Arnold James Adams and Pearl Bertha (Adams) Adams. Arnold proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and was aboard the USS Brister DE-327 in Vietnam. He was elected as Sailor of the Year during his service. Arnold was an avid sailor and enjoyed reading, rollerblading, speed walking, and biking. He was an active mason and enjoyed his membership and fellowship in Hope Lodge #25, Rhode Island Shriners, Scottish Rite, Royal Order of Jesters Providence Court #71 where he served as a past director, and Palestine Shrine Yacht Club, where he served as past commodore. He was a member of Perryville Grange #14 and Washington County Pomona Grange #2 and enjoyed "working at the back gate" during the Washington County Fair. Arnold was employed as Marketing Manager in advertising and sales for Offshore Magazine and in tourism and marketing with Mystic Coast and Country prior to his retirement in 2005. Arnold enjoyed being with people and talking to everyone. Arnold is survived by his wife of 35 years Linda Lupo-Adams; two daughters Melissa Mendoza of Bishop, Tx and Catherine Jimenez of Kingsville, TX; his Aunt Bernice Moniz of Fairhaven, MA; and his sister Kathleen A. Mashl of Wiscasset, ME; four grandsons Joe Oscar, Alex, Tres, and AJ and two great grandsons all living in Texas. Arnold brought love and laughter into all of our hearts and lives. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Funeral service will be private.
