Arlene (LaFountaine) Lachapelle, 75, of West Greenwich RI passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Kent Hospital with her family by her side.
Arlene was born in Central Falls, RI to Albert and Frances LaFountaine on February 18, 1950. Her young adult years were lived in Riverside, RI and she worked at St. Joseph Hospital, Amica Insurance Company and retired from RI Hospital in Patient Account Services.
Arlene met her future husband Richard on a blind date and shared 53 very happy years together. Besides her husband Rick, Arlene leaves her three children and their families whom she took great pride in; Marissa and Timothy Reynolds and their children Delaney and Jonah; Paul and Jennifer Lachapelle and their children Cole and Allana; Dawn and Zachary Corbeil and their child, Walker. She is predeceased by her son, Richard "Little Ricky" Lachapelle, Jr. She also leaves her sister, Frances and Timothy D'Allesandro.
Arlene and Rick raised their family on what was affectionately known as the "Lachapelle Family Compound" in Coventry, RI. They treasured the many hours of family time spent at the numerous and varied children's and later grandchildren's sporting events as well as their family Disney vacations and family cruises. Arlene and Rick were very grateful to have had their cross-country trip shortly after her retirement. After their cross-country trip, they made their home in Altamonte Springs, FL for 8 years. In July of 2022 they returned to RI to be closer to their children.
The family is thankful for all the people who helped and encouraged Arlene over the years. Arlene loved God and was grateful for all the prayers she received - believing that God's love and the prayers gave her much strength.
