Antoinette E. Scopa, 91, of Wakefield passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at her home. She was the wife of the late Alfred S. Scopa. Tosi, as she was called by her friends and family, was born at her Grandparents home in Port Jefferson, Long Island. She was the daughter of the late William and Antoinette (Shumski) Yuknalis. Tosi lived and worked as a nurse in New York City for several years. She eventually returned to her childhood home and raised her family. Mrs. Scopa was a nurse at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, Long Island from 1963 to 1986. She was the mother of John (Joanne) Scopa, Stephen Scopa, Robert (Michele) Scopa, Catherine (Glenn) Ketcham, Ann Marie (Igor) Runge, and Mary Greenlund. She was the grandmother of ten; great grandmother of three and sister of the late William Yuknalis. Over the years she enjoyed several trips with her friend Madeleine and there were many amusing stories of their adventures together. Her life centered around her family, friends, and the church. She enjoyed returning to Long Island, which held a special place in her heart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Monday, June 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
