Anthony Ramieri, 94, of Wakefield, died Wednesday. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Calvitto) Ramieri. Born in Italy, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Giacinta (Ciardi) Ramieri, and he emigrated through Ellis Island. Mr. Ramieri worked for the railroad for over 50 years. He served in the US Army 4th Armored Division during WW II and took part in the Normandy invasion. He was a member of the Carmino Calvitto VFW Post 45. Besides his wife he is survived by five children, Kathleen A. Maryland of Wakefield twins Cynthia Smyth and her husband John, III of Wakefield and Rosemary Beausejour of West Warwick, and Lisa Poole and her husband Lester A. of West Warwick, Ronald Ramieri and his wife Jeanne of Wakefield; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; four brothers, Spartico Ramieri of Cranston, John Ramieri of California, Theodore Ramieri of Warwick, and Bruno Ramieri of Johnston; a sister Gloria Walsh of Providence. He was the brother of the late Paul Ramieri, Vincent Ramieri and Viola Truchetta. The funeral will be Saturday 8:45 AM from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church.
