Anthony Dempsey Desimone

September 9, 1915 — November 13, 2012

Anthony "Dempsey" DeSimone,97, of Providence, died Tuesday. He was the beloved husband for 67 years of Genevieve (Valente) DeSimone. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Luigi and Maria DeSimone. He was a graduate of RISD and was a tool & dye maker for the Jewelry Industry, for many years. Mr. DeSimone played the String Bass and was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 198-457, served in the US Army during WW II and he spent many years officiating high school baseball and softball games. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, David DeSimone and his wife Karen (Laffey) of Charlestown, and Dennis DeSimone of Cranston; three grandchildren, Erica Brodeur, Amanda LaMar, and David DeSimone; and four great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Concetta Tirocchi, Rose DeSimone and John DeSimone. The funeral will be 8:45 AM Friday from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
