Anne Marie (Poitras) LeBlanc, of Wayne Street, Narragansett, surrounded by her loving family passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday June 29, 2011 after her courageous battle with brain cancer. Annie, as she was known to both family and friends was born on July 31, 1945 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick Canada. She was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Doris (Pelletier) Poitras. She met her beloved husband Harvey P. LeBlanc in Grand Falls while he was stationed at the Loring Airforce Base in Limestone, Maine. The two were married in 1963 at the Loring Airforce Base and celebrated 47 years together. Mrs. LeBlanc worked in the Narragansett High School cafeteria for several years while her children attended the school. Later, she was co-owner with her husband of Narragansett Lobster Trap and Supply Co., which served the local fishing industry for sixteen years. Most recently, Anne Marie served as the sales manager for the Narragansett Town Beach. Annie had many passions which included travelling abroad, enjoying cruises, attending family reunions in Canada, cooking her comfort food for family and friends, walks on the beach, savoring the area’s local seafood, and spending the winters in Florida. She was a giver to life’s bountiful table, and will be sadly missed by family, friends, and all the lives touched through her travels. Anne Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived two brothers; Philip and Morris; two daughters, Lisa M. Dority and her fiancé James Legler of Tampa Florida, and Christine J. Browning of Warwick; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul D. and Deborah L. LeBlanc of Westerly; her precious grandchildren, Kevin and Jessica Browning; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Burton and Lorne Poitras of New Brunswick Canada. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 5-8 p.m. at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to National Brain Tumor Society, 124 Watertown St., Suite 2D, Watertown Massachusetts 02472.
