Anne (Sweeny) Ladd, 86, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 12, 2018. She was the wife of the late John O. Ladd. Born in White Plains, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Gay) Sweeny. Anne was a graduate of Westerly High School and the University of Rhode Island. Anne was a teacher at Hazard School for over 21 years, and was involved in the South Kingstown Retired Teachers Association, SHEMCA, and was an advocate for CASP (Council of Autism Providers). Mrs. Ladd was a member of the Kingston Congregational Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting, bird watching, swimming, loved her many pets and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Anne is survived by her children Cynthia Anderson and her husband Eric of Clifton Park, NY, Thomas Ladd and his wife Susan of Buckfield, ME, and William Ladd and his wife Julie of South Kingstown; five grandchildren, Lauren Anderson, Kirsten Anderson Halbert, Karl Anderson, Chelsea Ladd and Haley Ladd. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl A. Ladd, and sisters Nancy Hutchins and Helen Haupt. The family would like to say thank you to her many loving caregivers, Kindred Hospice, and South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at 11 am in Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Rd, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to Animal Rescue League of Southern RI, PO Box 458, Wakefield, RI 02880.
