Anne E. Cooney

Anne E. Cooney, 72, of Matunuck, daughter of the late Hon. John P. Cooney, Jr. and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Cooney, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at home. She is survived by her brothers, Terence P. Cooney of Great Barrington, MA and James F. Cooney of West Kingston; sisters, Kathleen T. Puchalla of Wakefield and Agnes M. Chretien of Providence; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late John, Michael, Robert, Patrick, Edward, Margaret and Clara Cooney. Anne, a graduate of U.R.I., was a social worker for the State of Rhode Island for 30 years before retiring. She loved her faith and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and St. Romuald Chapel. Anne was active in many ministries serving as a lector, in hospital ministries and all ministries to the poor. She loved spending time with her family and had a special love for flowers and gardening. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 3, 2018, at 10 am in St. Romuald Chapel, Atlantic Ave., Matunuck. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, August 2, 2018, 4-7 pm, in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
