Anna V. DeLuca, 74, of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday, February 23rd, surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Dennis DeLuca for 52 years. Born in Providence to the late Thomas and Anna (Norcini) Palumbo. Anna graduated from Warwick Vets High School. She then attended Warwick Academy of Beauty Culture and worked for many years as a hairdresser before eventually opening her own hair salon, Coiffures by Anna. Anna enjoyed many things in life, but most importantly, her family and friends. She loved to cook, enjoyed baking cakes, drawing, and teaching art. Her children also remember her coaching softball and bringing the boys on their boy scout camping trips. Anna was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she also taught CCD. Besides her husband, Anna is survived by her children; Brian DeLuca and wife Maura, Kristen Gleason, grandchildren; Mackenzie and her husband Jorge, Zachary, Anthony, Sophia, sister; Tomasina O’Neil. She is pre-deceased by her son; Branden DeLuca and brothers; Pasquale “Paddy” Read and Walter Read. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, March 1st in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 14 High St., Wakefield at 11 am. Burial to follow in Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter. Visiting hours will be held in Avery-Storti Funeral Home on Monday, February 28th from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to all the Doctors, Nurses and Staff on the second floor ICU Unit at South County Hospital for all their care and support.
