Ann M. Thomas, 73, of Providence, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018. She was the wife of the late Robert B. Thomas. Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Roland J. and Waneta M. (Bath) Verrier. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Apponaug Pentecostal Church and she also volunteered at the Apponaug Christian Academy. She worked as a social worker for over 35 years and was a former foster parent receiving the foster parent of the year award as well as social worker of the year award. She was the Bureau Chief for the State of RI Newspaper for The Common Grounds. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons David Thomas of South Kingstown, Floyd Thomas of Florida, Paul Thomas of East Providence, and Jamie Thomas of Providence; nine grandchild David Jr., Zackary, Gianna, Adrianah, Isabella, Brayden, Hunter, Gianni and Benjamin; siblings William M. Verrier of Warwick and Ellen Gould of Scituate. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 am in Avery-Storti Funeral Home. Visiting Hours will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 5-7pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
