Ann D. Pelletier, 93, of North Kingstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22nd, surrounded by love. Born on December 11, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, Ann was the daughter of the late Harold and Jane (McConnell) Dietrich.
A passionate scholar and educator, Ann earned her A.B. in Spanish from the College of William and Mary and later a M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College. Her love for language and culture led her to live in Spain for seven years, where she hosted her own radio and television programs and taught both Spanish and English.
After marrying and settling in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, Ann continued her teaching career at the elementary, high school, and college levels, retiring from Portsmouth High School. A lifelong learner and adventurer, she traveled extensively after retirement.
Ann was deeply devoted to her faith and was an active member of the Episcopal Church throughout her life. Later, she answered a spiritual calling and was ordained as a deacon, dedicating her ministry to serving Hispanic communities.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons David and Andre Pelletier; daughter and son-in-law, Peg Pelletier and Dave Sleczkowski; her grandchildren, David and Lexi Pelletier; her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Joseph Mazza; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ann’s life was defined by service, intellect, and deep care for others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on May 3, 2025, at 1 PM at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, RI.
