Ann C. Johnson, 90, of Narragansett, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 at South County Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert J. Johnson. Born in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Spillane) Coyle.
Whether you knew her as Ann, Mom, Mimi, or Mrs. J., you were met with the same acerbic humor that only she could get away with. She continued the Irish tradition of being a mom who you always knew would do anything for you even though it was often accompanied with a sharp comment and colorful language. These traits were only softened by the arrival of her grandchildren, and then only mildly. Mimi loved her grandkids and her grandkids loved Mimi.
Mom enjoyed her long-ago summers at Galilee Beach Club, days at Canonchet and other points throughout South County with friends past and present. What she loved most was simply being around her family and friends where she could display that unique sense of humor.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children, Kelly Johnson, Robert “RJ” Johnson, and Colleen Flynn, six grandchildren: Guy, Nicholas and Trish Rizzo, Tatum and Samantha Flynn and Robert “Ben” Johnson, two step grandchildren Leela and Kieran Bronner, and a brother, Michael Coyle. She was the mother of the late Patricia Johnson and sister of the late John, Brian, and Timothy “Tippy” Coyle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 9:30 AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, RI. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boston Children’s Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215-5301.
