Angel J. Mumford (“A.J.”) of South Kingstown, is now surrounded by God’s own heavenly angels who have called him home after only 20 short years. He is survived by and sorely missed by his loving parents, Karen S. Hogan & Richard E. Hogan, as well as his grandmother, Janice Snow, his “Aunt” Kiki and “Uncle” Ed, and countless other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, teachers, teachers-aides, bus-drivers, coaches, school administrators, Special Olympics teammates, and his special & close friends, especially Nicole Schofield. His kittycat Chase, who always knew when Angel needed a snuggle or a medical alert, is more than a bit lost, looking around for his Buddy.
During his brief, but memorable life, Angel was a fierce sports fan, most notably of The Boston Celtics. He reveled in his time as a student athlete with the Unified basketball team at the Narragansett Pier & High Schools and Special Olympics. Angel loved video games (especially Mario), music, television, watching the surfer dudes at Narragansett Beach, all first responders - police, fire & rescue (particularly those who worked in Narragansett and South Kingstown), and pizza. Angel was a proud graduate of the South Kingstown Class of 2023- celebrating this day exactly 40 years after his beloved Papa’s graduation from the same school.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 8th in Christ The King Church, 180 Old North Rd, Kingston from 9:30-10:30 AM. His funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM.
Memorial donations to Special Olympics Rhode Island, 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI 02917 in his honor would be appreciated.
