Angarai Ganesan Sadasiv, 84, died February 22, 2015. He was a scientist, scholar, and teacher; a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was born in 1930 in Madras (now Chennai). He received his bachelor's degree from Robertson College (India), his master’s degree from Allahabad University, and his PhD in physics from Purdue University. He worked as a researchscientist at RCA Laboratories in the late 1960s. In 1970, he joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island, where he conducted research on very large scale integration (VLSI) and semiconductor devices and mentored many undergraduate and graduate students. He retired in 1999, and remained active in the department for many years as professor emeritus. Professor Sadasiv had many loves, including classical music, opera (he had a special love for Verdi, although he did not neglect Gilbert and Sullivan), horse racing (especially the Triple Crown), and World Cup soccer. He was an avid swimmer. He read voraciously, right up until his death. He was a great lover of short stories and mystery novels; he had always a special fondness for John Dickson Carr and P.G. Wodehouse. He married Eileen Corey Sadasiv in 1967. They resided in Kendall Park, NJ, and Perryville, RI, before retiring to their current home in Kingston, RI, in 2000. In retirement, he enjoyed the company of his wife of 48 years, their two children, Angarai Ramaseshan Sadasiv of Washington, D.C., and Lakshmi Sadasiv of Wellesley, MA; and four grandchildren, Arvind Angarai, 14, Ravi Angarai, 11, Ruari Helma, 10, and Tecumseh Eamon, 4. Services are being held at the convenience of the family.
